Sister Nancy Boyle Community Resource Center The Sister Nancy Boyle Community Resource Center is available to our patients and their families, staff, physicians, volunteers and community at large. Located in the Del E. Webb Memorial Center for Health Education at Little Company of Mary Hospital in Torrance, the resource center contains an extensive collection of books, videos and brochures covering health related topics such as arthritis, diabetes, cancer, heart disease, mental health, aging issues, and much more. Many of the books and videos can be checked out for a seven-day period. Also available are a wide variety of free consumer pamphlets and a dedicated computer with Internet access to professional medical journals and other web resources, such as Ebsco HealthSource Plus and HealthGate. Aided by a helpful research assistant, visitors can find answers to their health care questions quickly and easily. In cases where answers are not readily available, our research assistant will conduct further research or provide referrals to organizations that can provide more extensive information. Our research center is dedicated to the memory of Sister Nancy Boyle, L.C.M. Sister Nancy served Little Company of Mary Hospital for many years as the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, and later became Provincial Superior for the Sisters of Little Company of Mary throughout the United States. She profoundly touched all those with whom she came in contact and her death in February 1998 prompted those she loved to provide a very special living memorial. Desiring to preserve her special legacy, Little Company of Mary dedicated the Sister Nancy Boyle Community Resource Center in May 1998. Fully funded through charitable donations, the resource center provides a living legacy to a woman devoted to helping others. |
