Audreys volunteer spirit was prompted by her gratitude for the high quality
health care her family has received at LCMH, starting with the birth of her three
grandsons and followed by her husbands emergency room visit. One day as
I was driving by the hospital, I decided to park and visit the volunteer office.
Despite the fact that I didnt like to be around sick people, nor did I want
to wear the blue jacket, here I am loving every minute for over six
years!
The roots of the Auxiliary stem from the 1950s, beginning as part of the
fundraising effort to purchase the original piece of land for the hospital. The
groups gifts of time, talent and treasure have continued to this day for its
current 325 members. During the past three decades the auxiliary has contributed
nearly $3 million through sales at the gift shop and thrift store. With their
contributions of service far beyond just the financial realm, the volunteers are
instrumental in demonstrating the mission of Little Company of Mary by truly
making visible the healing presence in all they do.
