Leadership roles are not new for Ray. As a citizen of the community,
he takes philanthropy seriously. Bob Shafer, Executive Director of the Torrance
YMCA, noted, Ray is a volunteer extraordinaire, having taken on many volunteer
roles simultaneously that would daunt most others. Its hard to top the commitment
of chairing the YMCA Board and acting as chairman of a successful multi-million dollar
capital campaign at the same time. In addition to his commitment to the YMCA,
Ray served as past president of the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary
Club of Del Amo. Ray has been honored by receiving the 2001 Community Partnership
Award and the 2002 J. Walker Owens Outstanding Volunteerism Award.
A banner year awaits us. We are truly fortunate to have Ray leading us this
year, said Joanne Hunter. I am amazed at all he does in our community,
and seemingly with such ease. Taking a personal interest in his fellow volunteers,
and with the addition of that subtle sense of humor I am confident this will
be a great year for all of us!
