Honors Go to Extraordinary People
Little Company of Mary Earns Awards of Distinction
Complementing that outstanding clinical care is what has become the tangible
difference at LCM employees who practice the mission of the Sisters to
make visible a healing presence.
This practice of delivering personalized compassionate care made the difference
last year for the nearly 200,000 patients visiting LCM. In turn, the opinion of
those patients brought the J.D. Power and Associates Distinguished Hospital Award
for Service Excellence to LCM Hospital in Torrance. J.D. Power and Associates, a
global marketing information company, recognized the hospital for providing
An Outstanding Patient Experience according to five themes that were
identified as key drivers of patient satisfaction. A random sample of recently
discharged patients were surveyed in the following categories: dignity and
respect, speed and efficiency, comfort, information and communication, and
emotional support. In each category, LCM Hospital in Torrance exceeded the
national benchmark and is the first South Bay hospital and second of
two in the state of California to receive this
distinction.

Kathy Harren, RN, LCMs Chief Nursing Officer, congratulated the 1800 employees
who work on the Torrance campus. We are thrilled and proud to be a hospital
of distinction, said Harren. This award complements our commitment
to service excellence and quality, and our vision to be a healing presence. This
indicates a true depth of commitment from our employees.
Added to the elite J.D. Power distinction was the announcement of the Daily Breeze
13th Annual Readers Poll recognizing the hospital as South Bays BEST
in 2004.
